First Chief Rider Wolfgang Eder joined the Spanish Riding School in 1974 and is the most senior member of the equestrian team. Promoted to the rank of Chief Rider in 2003, he was then appointed First Chief Rider in 2012, a position held only by a few riders. He was accepted with pride and prudence. His greatest interest is the training of the young stallions; under his watchful eye they make their first "school" experiences. Wolfgang Eder is married and has a daughter. He spends most of his free time outdoor, especially gardening and when time permits he likes travelling to the sea to go diving. One of the Lipizzaners trained and presented by Wolfgang Eder is the bay stallion Pluto Bellornata, a rarity amongst his white brothers and according to an old saying a talisman said to ensure the Schools continued successful existence.
